Annual Celebration of the Birth Anniversary of Imam Zaman (a.s.) at the Islamic Centre of England

Imam Mahdi’s (a.s.) birth celebration was held with the splendid presence of those awaiting the reappearance in the Islamic Centre of England and, in a draw an Iranian lady, with the participation of public contributions, won the prize for a visit to Karbala.
In this magnificent event, on a working day Wednesday 8th March 2023, the main and small halls of the Islamic Centre of England were filled to the brim, so a number of attendees were unable to attend the ceremonial.
The celebrations began after the Maghrib and Isha Prayers, with the recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran, after which various cultural and educational programs were conducted, with the participation of children, adolescents, and young people under the age of 30.
The involvement of newly established youth groups of various cultures and diversity provided a special welcoming touch to the event such that guests, upon arrival, encountered new faces of youth in action involved in the festivities at the Islamic Centre of England.
Organisation of the Kahoot competition, performance of the anthem by students of the Islamic Republic of Iran School, theatrical presentation of the celebration of Imam Zaman (a.s.), hosting of a special children’s celebration, performance of the anthem of alms culture, presentation and distribution of an 18-meter cake given by a donor. There were also recitations by three famous eulogists in Persian, Arabic and English, playing mesmerising music videos about the Zuhoor and lectures in English and Persian among the variety of fascinating programs on this auspicious celebration.
In a speech in Persian by the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England, Seyed Hashem Moosavi pointed to the perfection of love and sacrifice for those waiting for the Zuhoor and characteristics of those who pledge allegiance to the Imam (a.s.):
They never commit theft, nor do they commit anything unlawful or corruption or immorality. They do not hoard gold, silver, wheat, or barley, neither do they insult a Muslim, or spill blood unjustly, nor disrepute anyone. They never destroy a mosque, nor give false testimony, or speak bad of believers, or use usury. They are patient in hardships and never complain, also they do not deceive a Muslim, and never oppress even the disbelievers and hypocrites. They lead simple lives, abstain from corruption and immorality, and enjoin good and forbid evil. This is inclusive and part of the allegiance and covenant with Imam Al-Mahdi (a.s.), which has been explicitly narrated in some of the books of traditions.
He also added that Imam al-Mahdi (a.s.) immediately after attainment of position of Imamate, due to the excruciating conditions and the immense harshness of the Abbasid government, by the command of the Almighty God to safeguard the life of the noble life, the Imam (a.s.) spent seventy years in minor occultation and then went into the major occultation. But the Imam (a.s.) lives among the people, although people may see him but do not recognise him.
HIWM Moosavi elucidated: “The political conditions presiding during the era of Imam al-Mahdi (a.s.), by the strict military measures of the Abbasid caliphs who were the fierce enemies of the Imams, caused the Shi’a implement their religious activities in full taqiyya and privacy. Communication with the Imams was very difficult for Shias, and only Shia Representatives in this period, after great effort, were able to provide the possibility of connecting with the Imams.
