The commemoration of Imam Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sajjad’s (a.s) martyrdom was held in the Islamic Centre of England in Persian, Arabic, and English.
In this gathering which was held On the second of September 2021, lecturers described the attributes of Imam Zayn al-ʿAbidīn (a.s), the fourth Imam. They expressed how Imam Al-Sajjad (a.s) transmitted the sad memories of Karbala to his next generation.
In the Arabic section of this Majlis, Hujjat al-Islam Seyyed Abdul Moneim Hassan said: Imam Zayn al-ʿAbidīn’s (a.s) strategy to decry the Umayyad corruption and to strengthen the Islamic values and social justice was through supplications. He added: with this strategy, Imam didn’t let the tragedy of Karbala be forgotten. Hujjat al-Islam Seyyed Abdul Moneim Hassan added: Imam Zayn al-ʿAbidīn’s (a.s) educated and raised the society by offering prayers and the great legacy of the book Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya.
In the English language section, Hujjat al-Islam Ahmad Abbas, referring to the virtues and role of Imam Sajjad (a.s) in conveying the message of Ashura to the next generation, said: we would not have been aware of Ashura if there weren’t struggles of Imam Sajjad (a.s) and Sayyida Zaynab bint Ali (a.s).
This memorial gathering continued with the congregational prayer leading by HIWM Seyed Hashem Moosavi, the Islamic Centre of England’s director.
Following the Maghrabain prayer, the Persian speaker of this Majlis, HIWM Alemi talked about the significance of resistance against injustice and cruelty. He continued: after understanding God, an essential aspect of humanity is patience. The frequency of patience in the holy Quran is 100 and in Nahj al-Balagha is 80 times. HIWM Alemi added that: regarding the injustice and cruelty in the book Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya after Salawat, God is asked to give us strength in the face of oppression, in the face of hostility, and in front of the one who plots against us. He added that the sermon of Imam Sajjad (a.s) in Yazid’s palace and the struggle of Hazrat Zainab (a.s) in exposing Yazid’s oppression was a cultural and theological revolution.
At the end of this spiritual ceremony, the blessed supplication of Kumail was recited.
