Fitriyya, Fidya and Kaffara

Fitriyya: also known as Zakat al-Fitr, is a form of mandatory charity given to the poor at the end of the holy month of Ramadan, before the Eid prayer, in Islamic tradition. Zakat al-Fitr (Fitriyya) for the year 2024 is £7 per person

Fidya: If someone cannot fast in Ramadan with a valid reason (e.g. Illness, pregnancy or old age), he/she must pay Fidya. The amount of ّFidya for the year 2024 is £2 per day.

Kaffara: If someone breaks or misses a fast in the holy month of Ramadan intentionally without a valid reason, he/she must pay Kaffarah. The amount of Kaffara for the year 2024 is £120 per day.
