The Eid al-Adha prayer at the Islamic Centre of England – 2024

The Eid al-Adha prayer in London was led by Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Seyed Hashem Moosavi, the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England.

On this blessed Eid, the Islamic Centre of England became a gathering place for believers from various nationalities. Many Muslims from different schools of thought and new converts also participated in this magnificent ceremony.

In the first sermon of this grand ceremony, the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England, referencing Quranic verses about sacrifice, stated: “Sacrificing is a symbol of loyalty, obedience, and closeness to God, and at the same time, it is a means of helping those in need and promoting the spirit of selflessness in the Islamic community.”

Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Moosavi added: “The importance and necessity of observing piety in the personal and social lives of Muslims emphasize that piety not only leads to God’s satisfaction but also guides humans toward worldly and eternal happiness. Qurbani (Sacrificing), in addition to demonstrating submission and sincerity to God, is also a form of practising selflessness and generosity.

In the second sermon of the Eid al-Adha prayer, the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England pointed to the signs of a sound heart and explained, “A sound heart is pure, sincere, and free from hypocrisy and malice. Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), when obeying God’s command to sacrifice his son Ishmael, displayed his sound heart and intended to earn God’s approval by giving up his dearest possession for the sake of God. This characteristic is recognized as one of the most important traits of believers and a condition for entering paradise.” Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Moosavi further stated: “Quranic teachings emphasize that a sound heart, free from any impurities, is essential for achieving God’s satisfaction and attaining success in both this world and the hereafter.”
