The celebration of the birth of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (AS), the generous one from the Ahlul Bayt, was held in three languages at the Islamic Centre of England.
This event took place on the evening of Saturday, March 15, 2025, with the presence of many fasting individuals and worshippers residing in London at the Islamic Centre of England.
The ceremony began before the Maghrib prayer in Persian. In his speech, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Seyed Hashem Moosavi, the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England, congratulated the audience on the blessed birth of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (AS) and elaborated on the personality and life of the great Imam. He stated that the life of Imam al-Mujtaba (AS), just like the life of his noble grandfather, was always focused on worship and submission to God.
He continued by discussing the series of lectures on how to derive joy from worship, saying: The purpose of creation is the worship of God, and Allah created both mankind and jinn for this purpose. Worship is often accompanied by difficulty and hardship.
Hujjat al-Islam Moosavi emphasized that if we want to make it easier and more pleasant, thus benefiting more from its blessings, we must have a correct understanding of worship. The more we understand worship, the more we will enjoy it, and as a result, we will never grow tired of its abundance, just like a child who, because of the joy of playing, never gets tired of it.
He also referred to the virtues of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (AS) during worship, mentioning that Imam Sajjad (AS) says that the legs of his uncle, Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (AS), trembled during prayer because he knew who he was meeting.
Hujjat al-Islam Moosavi further clarified that our understanding of worship depends on how we approach it. For instance, the Prophet of Islam, in describing prayer, said, “Prayer is the light of my eyes,” because prayer, for the Prophet, was like a ladder for spiritual advancement and ascension to the heavens.
Therefore, the first step in easing the difficulty of worship and making it more attractive and beneficial is to change our perception of it and view it as a means for our personal growth and perfection.
During the ceremony, hundreds of people formed orderly rows and performed congregational prayer under the leadership of Hujjat al-Islam Moosavi, presenting a beautiful display of sincerity and servitude.
After the Iftar banquet, the celebration continued with the screening of beautiful video clips and speeches in Arabic and English.
Hujjat al-Islam Mal Allah Atiyah delivered a speech in Arabic, discussing the virtues and character of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (AS), stating that Imam Hassan (AS) is known as the “Generous One of the Ahlul Bayt” due to his unparalleled acts of charity. He gave away all of his wealth twice and half of his property three times to the needy.
In the continuation of the celebration, Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Subhani, speaking in English, highlighted the connection between Imam Hassan (AS) and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He mentioned that when Imam Hassan (AS) was born, the Prophet (PBUH) took him in his arms and said: “He is my son, part of my flesh, and the proof of God. His command is my command, his speech is my speech, and whoever follows him has followed me. Whoever disobeys him has disobeyed me, and whoever harms him harms me, and whoever harms me harms God.”
Dr. Subhani, in reference to the worship of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (AS) as the most devoted of people in his time, added that another prominent characteristic of Imam Hassan (AS) was his embodiment of the Quran, emphasizing his teachings and conduct according to the Quran.
The ceremony concluded with a eulogy in praise of the generous one of the Ahlul Bayt (AS) by a member of the household of the Prophet in Persian.
