The Islamic Centre of England hosted a mourning ceremony for the martyrdom of Imam Kazim (a.s.) that was attended by a large number of the lovers of the holy Imam (a.s.). At the service, which was in Arabic and Persian, on Thursday 16th February 2023, after the recitation of the Holy Quran, HIWM Al-Karbabadi, from Bahrain, gave a speech. Referring to the virtues of Imam Kazim (a.s.) he stated: the most famous title of this esteemed Imam (a.s.) is Kazim, meaning ‘one who extinguishes and restrains his anger’; because Imam Kazim (a.s.) was patient and tolerant when faced with oppression and torture from the enemy to the extent that the oppressed Imam (a.s.) would never respond to them in angry speech.
Ibn al-Athir, a Sunni scholar, has said: “They gave him the title of Kazim because in answer to the wrongdoers he responded with goodness, as being virtuous was his habitual character.”
At the end of the martyrdom anniversary, two eulogists recited lamentation, in Persian and Arabic, commemorating the innocence and tragedy of Imam Musa al-Kazim (a.s.).
