The Islamic Centre of England was immersed in the joy and celebration of Wilayah and Imamate on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir. This festive ceremony took place on 24th June 2024, with the participation of hundreds of Shiite followers of Amir al-Momineen, Imam Ali (AS) from various nationalities. The event was conducted in three languages: Persian, English, and Arabic.
During the ceremony, eulogists of Ahl al-Bayt (pbut) recited praises and eulogies in honour of the Wilayah of Amir al-Momineen, Imam Ali (AS) in Persian and Arabic, which were warmly received by the audience. Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Seyed Hashem Moosavi, the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England, addressed the gathering in Persian, describing Eid al-Ghadir as one of the most significant and valuable Islamic holidays. He added that on this day, the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) at Ghadir Khum, after introducing Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) as his successor, recommended to all Muslims to honour this day as the greatest Eid.
The Imam of the Islamic Centre of England highlighted the most important message of the event at Ghadir Khum, which is the necessity of loyalty to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He emphasized that loyalty holds great importance in Islam. It defines following and defending the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) through the religion of Islam, love and respect for Ahl al-Bayt (AS). It spreads the message of Islam, and fosters unity and brotherhood among Muslims, which are signs of loyalty to the great Prophet of Islam (PBUH).
Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Seyed Hashem Moosavi stressed that the most important message and lesson from this great Eid, after introducing Imam Ali (AS) as his successor, the great Prophet of Islam (PBUH) asked Muslims to pledge allegiance to him and accept his leadership. Numerous verses from the Holy Quran testify to this event and the Prophet (pbuh)’s recommendation.
During the ceremony, Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Seyed Haider Hasnain and Sheikh Ali Karbabadi delivered speeches in English and Arabic respectively about the virtues of Eid al-Ghadir, explaining the dimensions and importance of the completion of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) mission following the introduction of Amir al-Momineen, Imam Ali (AS) as his successor.
A special feature of the celebration was the Kahoot quiz competition, with commemorative prizes awarded to the winners. The ceremony concluded with Maghrib and Isha congregational prayers led by Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Seyed Hashem Moosavi, the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England.
