The Islamic Centre of England, in an official statement, has announced Thursday, 19 February 2026 as the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan 1447 AH.
Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Seyed Hashem Moosavi, the Imam of the Islamic Centre of England, in this announcement expressed his hope that the faithful brothers and sisters residing in the UK attain full success and benefit fully from the blessings and spiritual bounties of this noble month. He stated that according to the announcement of the office of the supreme religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, the crescent of Ramadan will be easily sightable at sunset on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, and therefore Thursday is declared the first day of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH.
It is also announced that throughout the month of Ramadan, daily programmes will be held at the Islamic Centre of England, in addition to a daily live broadcast on the Centre’s YouTube channel for the benefit of the wider community.
