General Introduction to the Specialised Quranic Circles Programme
Programme Title:
Specialised Circles for Quranic Recitation (Melody & Voice, Tajweed, Pausing and Starting)
Introduction:
The Holy Qur’an is the divine word of God and the central pillar for shaping the religious culture of the Muslim Ummah. Correct and beautiful recitation of the Qur’an not only nurtures a deep emotional connection with divine revelation but also serves as a powerful medium for conveying its meanings to receptive hearts.
Given the increasing need to train expert reciters and capable instructors in Quranic recitation and to enhance the quality of recitation among youth and Quranic activists, this specialised program has been designed to provide both technical and theoretical training in the art of Qur’an recitation.
These specialised circles, guided by renowned scholars and instructors, offer a platform for young, talented, and motivated individuals to grow intellectually, practically, and spiritually, paving the way for them to become influential figures in the field of Quranic engagement.
General and Specific Objectives of the Program
General Objectives:
- To cultivate a new generation of Quranic reciters and instructors through modern methodologies and scientifically grounded approaches to recitation training.
- To empower passionate youth in the field of Qur’an recitation and instruction, enabling them to play a meaningful role in the cultural and religious future of the nation.
- To meet the growing demand of religious and cultural institutions for specialised Quranic personnel capable of leading recitation sessions, teaching, and judging competitions.
Specific Objectives:
- To provide professional and specialised training in Quranic melody and voice (Sawt and Lahn) based on the seven Maqamat and contemporary recitation techniques.
- To ensure mastery of theoretical and applied Tajweed rules, with a focus on the three core areas: articulation points (Makharij al-Huruf), characteristics of letters (Sifat al-Huruf), and the rules of pronunciation (Ahkam al-Huruf).
- To develop an understanding of the principles of Waqf and Ibtida (pausing and starting) to enhance conceptual comprehension and semantic coherence in recitation.
- To elevate the participants’ performance skills for public recitation in formal gatherings, competitions, and religious occasions.
- Identify and prepare talented individuals for advanced programs, such as instructor and judge training courses.
- To foster a collaborative environment for experience-sharing between the younger generation and distinguished Quranic masters.
- To help participants discover and properly develop their vocal abilities in line with the requirements of expert recitation.
