On December 21, 2024, the Islamic Centre of England hosted a celebration for the birth anniversary of Sayyida Fatimah Zahra (AS). The event, attended by Shia Muslims in London, featured speeches in Farsi, English, and Arabic, each highlighting the profound lessons from the life of Sayyida Zahra (AS) for strengthening family bonds.
Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sayyid Hashem Moosavi, delivering his speech in Farsi, emphasised that the root of many family conflicts stems from straying from the Faatimi way of life. He highlighted modesty and simplicity as key principles of Sayyida Zahra’s (AS) lifestyle, saying:
“By following her example, families can resolve conflicts, strengthen their bonds, and reduce the prevalence of divorce. Her teachings offer practical solutions for building harmonious relationships.”
He encouraged young people to embrace marriage, stressing the importance of mutual support, affection, and shared responsibilities to create stability and tranquillity within families.
In English, Sheikh Afzal Merali spoke on the virtues of Sayyida Zahra (AS), describing her as the pinnacle of human perfection. He referenced a divine hadith that underscores her unparalleled status:
“The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Fatimah is the leader of all women, from the first to the last. She is a part of me.’”
Sheikh Merali attributed her elevated position to her patience, sincerity, and selflessness, which were evident in her devotion to her family, neighbours, and faith.
Sheikh Ali Massoud, addressing the audience in Arabic, focused on her exemplary moral character, describing Sayyida Zahra (AS) as a timeless role model for noble ethics and a guide for all humanity.
The event also included eulogies and hymns in Arabic and Persian celebrating the birth of Sayyida Fatimah Zahra (AS). To engage the audience, a Kahoot quiz was organised, with prizes awarded to three winners.
This gathering served as a reminder of the timeless teachings of Sayyida Zahra (AS) and their relevance in fostering strong and loving family relationships.
